There are two tables in every agro-industrial business. At one sit the investors who provide the capital to build plants, buy equipment and fund working capital. At the other sit the farmers who grow the crop the whole enterprise depends on.
Too often, value is served at only one of them.
The investor's table
Investors deserve a business that earns its margins from processed, branded products, not raw commodity prices set in markets far away. They deserve professional management, sound governance and honest reporting. And they deserve exposure to Africa's agro-industrial growth, not just its agricultural output.
The farmer's table
Farmers deserve consistent, fair offtake instead of exposure to volatile spot prices. They deserve access to better practices, training and inputs that raise both yield and quality. And they deserve a real stake in the industry their harvest helps to build, not just a buyer for their crop.
If the farmer loses, the factory eventually runs dry. If the investor loses, the factory is never built.
Why both tables matter to the business
This is not charity. It is strategy. A processing plant is only as reliable as its supply, and supply is only as reliable as the farmers behind it. Farmers who are paid fairly, trained well and treated as partners deliver better beans, more consistently, year after year. That consistency is exactly what investors are buying.
At UKG Agro Industries Ltd, we are building a model where value reaches both tables, because that is the only model that lasts.
